Lillias Jane Bowlby (Lil), a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed peacefully from this life on August 23rd 2012 in Dallas, surrounded by her loving family. She was 76. Lil was a resident of Garland, Texas since 1978, when she and her family moved to Garland after her husband Clifton (Cliff) retired from the US Air Force.
Lil was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on November 24th 1935 to father Louis Scott and mother Jeannie MacDonald Scott. She spent her childhood growing up with younger sister Louise. She attended Royston and Ainsle Park schools. She married her husband Cliff on November 28th, 1959. Son Gary Scott (b. 8/21/1960) and daughter Debra Jean (b. 10/26/1961) were born in Edinburgh while Cliff was stationed at RAF Kirknewton.
Her life’s adventures included a tour in San Angelo, Texas where daughter Sharon Louise was born on March 6th, 1964. Lil and her husband moved frequently while in the service, with tours in RAF Chicksands, England, San Antonio, Texas, and San Vito, Italy, with their final tour in South Dakota just before Cliff’s retirement from the USAF.
Lil’s personality was perfectly suited to her chosen profession, that of banquet manager and then catering director. She loved helping brides plan their wedding receptions. The brides always came to her because they knew they getting the best. When she retired from the catering business. she always said that working with the brides was what she missed most.
She is survived by husband Clifton of Garland, Son Gary and wife Aquila of Forney Texas, Daughter Debra and husband Kevin Muenz of Garland, and daughter Sharon of Garland. Grandsons Chris Muenz, Justin Muenz and Dakota Muenz and Andrew Bowlby and Aaron Bowlby. Sister Louise Binnie of Edinburgh, Scotland, niece Donna Binnie of Edinburgh, Scotland, and grand-niece Claire Binnie Ceesay and husband Matarr. Last but not least is her “Wee Dog” Mimi, a toy poodle. She was predeceased by her father Louis and her mother Jeannie
