Surrounded by his loving family, "Don" Victor Antonio Hernandez Sr. passed away after a courageous battle with Parkinsonson's disease. Born in Pflugerville Texas November 11, 1929, he is preceded in death by his parents, Leonides and Isabella Hernandez and daughter in law and grandchild, Elizabeth and Lorene Hernandez. He is survived by the love of his life of 60 years, Louisa T Hernandez; daughters Mary E Hernandez, Carmen del Rosario Hernandez, Rosalba And husband Ben Moreno, Suzanne and husband Vincent DiPiazza, and son, Victor Hernandez Jr; grandchildren, Anthony, Philip and James DiPiazza, Michael Hernandez, and Amber Rose Lange, and great grandson Gabriel Dean Willis DiPiazza, brother Leonides Hernandez of Austin and many nieces and nephews. Known for his generosity and quick wit, Victor commanded a soulful presence as one "whose name is written in water". A self educated man, he was a poet, a singer and entrenpenurial restauranteur. He served in the U S Armed Forces, Army, during the Korean War, as a military interpreter/translator and military police officer. He was employed by the Sheraton Hotels, El Fenix, Pancho's and finally, opened his own restaurant In Garland, Texas, Los Gallos Mexican Restaurant. For over 35 years the restaurant carried his motto of "Mi casa es su casa - my house is your house" . To all he came in contact with - he greeted you with a smile, a listening heart and a loving understanding. For this he is greatly loved and will be missed by all. Descanse en paz, Papa.
