Life Legacy
Fannie Mae McCartney age 95 of Garland, Texas passed away, Thursday, August 16, 2012. Born October 24, 1916 in Nobility, Fannin County, Texas, to Walter West Holcomb and Cynthia Idella “Della” (Turman) Holcomb. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and loving caregiver. She was known for her, gardening and cooking fresh vegetable meals. There was great joy in her heart when preparing Christmas and Thanksgiving meals for her family and friends. Some of the favorites being divinity, chocolate fudge and her “very best” chocolate pies with whipped cream. Fannie Mae was a member of Southside Assembly of God Church for 30 plus years. She is survived by her children, Billy McCartney and wife Kathy, Benny McCartney and wife, Laveta, Nelma Jean Roper and husband Don, Nancy Blount and husband Don; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, Hoyt Holcomb and many nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John B. McCartney and parents, Walter West Holcomb and Cynthia Idella “Della” (Turman) Holcomb; 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012, Southside Assembly of God Church, 1648 Axe Drive, Garland, Texas 75041. Internment following at Restand Memorial Park in the Garden of Devotion, Dallas, Texas. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
